Ammini Clinic

Ammini General Clinic and Diagnostic Centre

Sri Kola Perumal Chettiyar, a very charitable person and his daughter donated a piece of land in AppaRao gardens, Shenoy Nagar, Behind Pacchiappa College to Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission and requested them to develop facilities to service the poor neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is locally called Dhobighat and populated by economically weaker section including many migrant families from eastern India, involved in manual labour.

Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission started this clinic and the clinic was named after the Donor’s mother Ammini Ammal. The then Governor Sri PrabudasPatwari inaugurated the clinic.


SVMM with the support of various Donors established a Diagnostic Medical centre in 2018 and medical test facilities were provided, including the following:

  • Hemotology
  • Digital X ray unit
  • Clinical Pathology
  • Bio chemistry
  • Micro Biology
  • Ultra sound and Colour Doppler

Tests and consulting were done at a very nominal cost in subsidized tariff to cater to the lower income segment of the society. Periodically health camps including Diabetic camps and Master health check-up service was also done at a nominal cost mainly with an objective to benefit the poor.



Unfortunately the centre which was closed during the Covid period and remained shut for over 3 years.


With the help of Donors the Ammini clinic was restarted in October’2023. An additional centre for Physiotherapy and Yoga was also constructed in the next road which will be opened shortly.




Ammini Clinic continues to serve the local population with subsidised Doctors’ consultation and supply of basic prescribed medicines. In addition special camps such as Free Eye Check-up camps, Free Gynaecology camp, Free Diabetic check- up camps are held periodically to assist the people access specialist Doctors consultations.
